ART CAMP: The Many Faces of Picasso 2-3:30PM JULY 29-AUG. 2

“Picasso was the first rock-star artist, whose wild visions gripped the public imagination and changed 20th-century art forever”  ~  Peter Conrad, 2009
Young artists will love this camp, where they will learn about the life and work of Pablo Picasso, co-founder of Cubism, Constructed Sculpture, and Collage. Led by Dhanya Elias, this camp will introduce students to Picasso’s influences and processes through his many different periods of artistic production. In the first part of the week, the focus will be on understanding concepts of deconstruction, collage, and proportion. Later in the week, they will explore facial proportions and drawing facial features. Camp will culminate with a final project, with students creating a three-dimensional, mixed media self-portrait inspired by the famous Picasso series “The Weeping Woman.” All materials will be provided, but students are welcome to bring their own sketch pads, pencils, erasers, etc. Students wishing to work with Procreate should bring an iPad and Apple Pencil, if possible.
